SR 20 to close at S-W Sept. 26

posted 9.21.11

SEDRO-WOOLLEY — From Sept. 26 till as late as Oct. 17, a portion of State Route 20 will close between Metcalf and Township Lane in Sedro-Woolley.

The closure will allow crews to continue work on the city’s widening and bicycle/pedestrian improvements project at that location.

Detour routes will be in place beginning Sept. 26. The detour location will be in the area of the BNSF trestle at milepost 65.5 on SR 20, with a detour directing eastbound traffic through downtown Sedro-Woolley and back out to SR 20 at Township Lane. Westbound traffic can follow the route in reverse.

The closure is expected to last up to three weeks–till Oct. 17–as Interwest Construction Inc. re-grades SR20 in the BNSF trestle area. All local businesses will remain open during the planned detour and directional signs will be implemented to direct customers to the local businesses along SR 20. As more information regarding the detour/closure becomes available, City of Sedro-Woolley will update its Web site (www.ci.sedro-woolley.wa.us).

Motorists can expect delays as flaggers allow equipment to access work zones. Side streets intersecting SR 20 in the work zone will be limited to right in and right out motions.

Questions may be addressed to the City of Sedro-Woolley Public Works Department at 360.855.0771.
