Public meeting scheduled for proposed juvenile rehabilitation facility

Rep. Kirk Pearson and local leaders from the City of Sedro-Woolley and Sedro-Woolley School District will host a community meeting to get public feedback on the proposed juvenile rehabilitation facility at the former Northern State Hospital campus, which currently houses Cascade Job Corps.

The meeting will be held Wed., May 9, at 2:30 p.m. at Sedro-Woolley City Hall council chambers, 325 Metcalf Street in Sedro-Woolley.

“I am extremely concerned the only public meeting held on this proposal took place between the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays, a time when many people travel and are occupied with family, visitors and holiday preparations,” said Pearson, R-Monroe. “Folks really didn’t get a chance express their concerns to Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration officials. We feel that hosting a meeting with state officials in charge of this project at a time and date when area residents can participate and offer their thoughts is the right thing to do.”

No RSVP is necessary and community members will be given time to offer their thoughts and solutions.
