Earth Day is April 22 this year, and Concrete is joining the effort to celebrate our planet by hosting Earth Week in Concrete, a variety of events from April 19 to 26. Here’s a list of some of the confirmed activities.

April 19
Cement City Trail Run, 8:30 a.m. to noon, starts at Concrete High School football field

April 19
Seed Swap at Marblemount Community Hall, 1 to 4 p.m.

April 19
Trail walks at Rockport and Rasar State Parks, all day, free parking

April 21
Hwy 20 Cleanup, Concrete Chamber of Commerce, mile markers 87–89, meet at Concrete Center at 3 p.m.

April 21–26
Tai Chi Chih on the lawn, Concrete Center, 3:30 to 5 p.m. every day (45-min. instruction/practice sessions); free admission

April 22
Hwy 20 Cleanup, KSVU, mile markers 93–95, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

April 22
Trail walks at Rockport and Rasar State Parks, all day, free parking

April 22
Highway Cleanup with KSVU, mile markers 93–95;  10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

April 24
Film Fest, Concrete Theatre; 6 to 9 p.m.
Showing: “Back to the Garden” and “Who Bombed Judi Bari?” plus Q&A with filmmaker Kevin Thomlinson; admission is $10 per movie, with proceeds going to KSVU

April 25
“Earth Care Share”: Community Ideas on How to Care for the Earth, at Concrete Center. Potluck and idea mingling boards at 5 p.m.; panel discussion and public forum from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Panel members include Shubert Hunter, Mary Janda, Jon Reidel, Jennie Goforth

April 26
Hwy 20 Cleanup, Concrete Saturday Market, mile markers 89–91, meet at Concrete Center at 10 a.m.

April 26
Earth Jam Poetry Readings, 5b’s Bakery, Concrete; 2 to 4 p.m.

April 26
Eco-Fair,  Concrete Center; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

April 26
Recycled Art Contest, Concrete Center; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; contestants can bring their creations beginning at 9 a.m.

April 26
Recycled Family Crafts, Upper Skagit Library, Concrete; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
